The Faculty of Economics and the University of Cambridge are committed in their pursuit of academic excellence to equality of opportunity and to a proactive and inclusive approach to equality, which supports and encourages all under-represented groups, promotes an inclusive culture, and values diversity.
In 2019, the Faculty of Economics completed a self-assessment, led by Dr Elisa Faraglia, covering gender balance amongst staff and students, opportunities for career progression and the quality of the working environment. An application documenting these findings and the resulting proposals and strategies for improvement was submitted in November 2019 for the Athena SWAN Bronze Award achieved in April 2020 (link here). Work has already commenced to implement the proposed action plan which will ensure equality in representation, progression and success for all.
In January 2020 the Faculty has created an Equality and Diversity committee in charge of the supervision of the implementation of the Athena Swan Action Plan and is actively engaging with the rest of the Faculty and the University to promote the Athena SWAN values.
